Law Society roll number: 412175

Michael's practice focuses on Charterparty disputes, involving extensive arbitration work, and disputes concerning carriage of goods by sea, as well as advising on shipbuilding matters.

Having completed his law degree at the University of Wales, Swansea in 2003, Michael joined Waltons and Morse and spent nine months with the firm as a paralegal. He returned to Swansea in 2004 to continue studying. He obtained a Masters in International Maritime Law and wrote his dissertation on the port security requirements of the ISPS Code and its effects on charterparties. The following year he completed the Legal Practice Course and a Masters in Advanced Drafting (in which he gained a distinction).

Michael returned to Waltons and Morse in 2006 as a trainee solicitor. During that time, Michael gained experience in all areas of the firm's expertise, with particular emphasis upon insurance, cargo recovery and charterparty disputes. Since his admission as a solicitor in July 2008 he continues to work in all these areas, but his practice area has particular focus on charterparty disputes, advising both owners and charterers in non-contentious and contentious matters (the latter giving him experience in a number of arbitration references).
