David Perry specializes in international trade documentation and disputes; charterparty disputes; P&I Club work and reinsurance litigation. He is a member of the British Maritime Law Association sub-committee on insurance law. He is the firm's Senior Partner.

DAVID PERRY, born Cambridge 1949; 1970 graduated from Southampton University (LLB); 1971 joined the firm; 1973 qualified as an English solicitor. 1980 became a partner in the firm. Principally involved with charterparty and international trade disputes and also marine insurance and reinsurance issues. Particularly involved with Japan and Germany.

Supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association. Member of Justice - the British section of the International Commission of Jurists - 1984 member of the sub-committee of Justice reporting on improvements to civil procedure. Member of the Insurance Law sub-committee of British Maritime Law Association. Author of paper - Current Cargo Problems: Insolvency and Financial Default of and by the Parties to the Contract of Carriage - given at Marine Insurance Conference in London in November 1979 organised by Lloyd's of London Press; author of paper - Security for Cargo Claims - Mareva Injunction and Maritime Liens - given to Marine Insurance Conference (Cargo) in London in June 1981 organised by Lloyd's of London Press; author of paper - Recent Court Developments "Mareva" or Arrest - the choice - given at a Charterparty Conference in London in September 1982 organised by Lloyd's of London Press; author of paper - Time Limits, Steps in an Action - Security - given at a Charterparty Disputes Conference in London in April 1984 and organised by Lloyd's of London Press; author of the paper - Arbitration or Litigation - Which is the Better Way of Solving Disputes? - given at the Maritime Arbitration Seminar in April 1986 organised by Lloyd's of London Press; lecture on salvage law for the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Association in London for their Shipping, Insurance and Quality Seminars given in October 1986, October 1987 and November 1988.

Paper on the Resolution of Maritime Disputes for the Korean International Trade Law Association Symposium in Seoul, Korea - October/November 1991; lectures on salvage law for the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Association in London for their Shipping, Insurance and Quality Seminars given in December 1991 and December 1992. Author of paper on Maritime Arbitration given at Seminar in Hamburg - June 1992. Author of paper - Insurance Regulation: Past, Present and Future given at a seminar on the Development of Business Regulation at the University of London for the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the Institute of Historical Research - January 1993. Contributor to the LMAA Law Review 1992-1994 of article entitled Arrest and Conflicts of Jurisdiction under the 1968 Brussels Convention. Author of paper concerning the Asbatankvoy Charter given at the 2nd International Conference on Tanker Demurrage May 1995.
