Andrew Purssell specialises in marine insurance litigation handling both coverage disputes and recovery actions; reinsurance; international trade disputes; charter party claims and carriage of goods by sea.

I graduated from Manchester University in 1990 and completed the professional exams at York College of Law. I trained at Herbert Smith and qualified into their Shipping Department in 1994. I left to join Waltons & Morse in March 1999 and became a partner in July 2001.

I specialise in all aspects of reinsurance as well as in "dry" shipping litigation and arbitration, including marine insurance (both coverage disputes and recoveries actions), charter party disputes, commodities and international trade disputes and carriage of goods by sea. I have considerable experience of maritime/international trade arbitrations under the main institutional rules such as LMAA, UNCITRAL, LCIA and GAFTA.
